What is it that lures us into nature and how do we benefit from time spent in the wild? This question is at the centre of two books, which explore the challenges and joys of travelling off-grid, as well as the surprising new communities we might find there. In The Ripple Effect, Anna Deacon and Vicky Allan bring together tales from across the wild swimming community, which has had a resurgence in the UK in recent years for those seeking solace at the water’s edge. Author and presenter of BBC’s Alba’s Gardening and Lifestyle series, Gàrradh Phàdruig, Peter MacQueen, has written The Art of Hutting, which celebrates the temporary homes we create in nature and how we can make the most of our time away from modern life. Chaired by Kerri Andrews.
Part of our Oot and Aboot series, which explores the human drive to get out into nature and the transformational impact it has on us.
